Chapter 15

Whatever preconceived notion I had of relationships has been blown out of the water by Kira. It pisses me off too. There are a lot of things I can handle in life. Death, killing, hurting people, but feelings? I’m not always so good with those. Knowing what you want and actually having it in the palms of your hands is different. I knew I wanted Kira for a while now but now that I have her, what the hell do I do? I’m not the date night type of guy. I can’t sit through a two-hour movie popping handfuls of popcorn into my mouth and sharing a drink. I’d probably shoot the fucking screen or the assholes around me before the credits started rolling.

I stand outside on the porch watching the sunrise of in the distance as all these thoughts swirl around in my head. The air is warm and thick with tension. Tension that I’m throwing out there. Small hands wrap around my waist before lips burn into the exposed skin on my back. The feeling that ignites inside of me is one I could get used to.

“You’re up early,” I tell her. I know I wore her ass out last night. I fucked her on every goddamn surface in the clubhouse before dragging her back here and doing it again. “How you feelin’?”

“Sore but good.” She giggles softly behind me.

I let myself smile for the time being. I don’t know what is going to happen between us. Kira and I have a strange thing rising between us and neither one of us know how to handle that.

“I’m goin’ back to get Shaw today,” I inform her. The plan is to drag his ass back to the warehouse I caught him at and see what information he willingly wants to give me before I unleash a few of my friends on his ass. And when I say ass, I literally mean his ass.

“Ok. I’m ready.”

I nod my head but I don’t turn to look at her just yet. I don’t know that she is ready. The things that happened to her aren’t things you can shut off in your mind. They aren’t easily forgettable. When I blow out a breath, I take another deep one before turning to face her. I need to see it in her eyes that she’s ready to do this. I need to see that I’m not going to lose her to the past once again. Watching that happen the first time nearly ripped my black heart out of my chest. When I look down into her eyes, she gives me a small smile.

“I know what you’re doing,” she says, cocking her head to the side.

“Oh yeah? What’s that?” I ask reaching up and tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

“You want to make sure I’m not going to break again.”

Nodding my head, I realize she can see right through me. No one has ever been able to do that before.

“Your pieces are sharp.
